13-year-old Rylie Secrest has been found safe

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Missing teen Rylie Secrest from Roosevelt, Utah, was found Thursday afternoon in Wyoming, according to a statement from police.

Rylie was found in the back of a white bobtail semi-truck driven by 25-year-old Chris Evans, of Florida. The release said she was found in good health.

Roosevelt City police officers, Utah Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, the FBI, Utah State Bureau of Investigations, National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and Uintah County Sheriff’s Department obtained information about the suspect and determined the approximate location of Evan’s car using data from cell phones and communication apps.

Investigators determined Rylie communicated with Evans using “Oculus,” a virtual reality program from Facebook’s parent company, Meta.

According to the release, “Rylie was located one hour within identifying Evans as a suspect.”

Rylie was reported missing Tuesday after leaving her home at 5:45 am

Authorities issued a Utah Endangered Missing Advisory for Rylie and reported a person of interest, Justin Woodruff, on Wednesday.

Police reported Rylie had told her friends she was “going to Florida with a man.”
