19 year old “lucky to be alive” after falling 30 feet from Bridal Veil Falls

Four young and “poorly equipped” hikers were rescued from Bridal Veil Falls after one of them fell 9 meters.

The Utah County Sheriff’s Office announced that a Department of Public Safety helicopter was being used to carry hikers down the falls.

Officials said the 19-year-old Idaho man who fell 20 feet sustained minor injuries and was “lucky enough to be alive”. He is expected to recover.

According to UCSO, 13 members of the search and rescue team helped along with the helicopter team and North Fork Fire on the mountain.

After the rescue, the sheriff’s office emphasized the importance of being properly equipped before going into the mountains.
