Provo Rec Center wins award for excellence

Provo Parks and Recreation was recognized by the American Academy for Park and Recreation Administration with the National Gold Medal Awards Golden Plaque Award for excellence in park and recreation management.

The award recognizes agencies across the country who excel in a variety of categories and demonstrate innovative ways of serving their citizens.

“I feel like the leisure center is a lot more family-friendly,” said Jacob Webb, guest at the Peaks Ice Arena.

One of the highlights of Provo’s Parks and Recreation is the state-of-the-art leisure center, which was built in 2013 and is full of amenities and resources for Provo residents.

“I like that there are many amenities. You can go swimming, you can climb stairs. There are many different things you can do to exercise, ”said Rec Center guest Kiera Reimer.

The facility has three complete basketball courts with repainted logos, exercise equipment, pickle ball and tennis courts, and more.

The Recreation Center is an example of Provo’s efforts to provide the community with a facility that has something for everyone.

“They have really good classes. They are really clean. It’s never very busy, ”said Reimer.

The Peaks Ice Arena, complete with an ice rink and quality exercise equipment, also shows how the Parks and Recreation Department is providing Provo with quality community resources.

“I’ve been going to the Provo rink for three and a half years. We love it because we basically get ice skating for free, ”said Webb.

Whether you’re looking for a new place to work out, join a sports team, or enjoy a day at the park, Provo Parks and Recreation has an award-winning solution that is guaranteed to be fun for you and your family.
