Provo’s Pioneer Village Mercantile ready for a Pioneer Christmas party.

Provo residents and avid guests can step back in time and enjoy a border Christmas celebration at the popular Provo Pioneer Village’s Pioneer Christmas Party.

After a two year hiatus due to road works and the COVID-19 pandemic, “A Pioneer Christmas” is back and the villagers are ready to welcome the public.

The Pioneer Christmas event will take place on December 17th, 18th and 20th from 5pm to 8pm. A special program starts at 6 p.m. A donation of $ 2 per person or $ 10 per family is recommended for entry.

Residents are encouraged to dress in contemporary clothing whenever possible to add to the fun and atmosphere of the evening.

The villagers are accompanied by storytellers, a music program, a visit from Santa Claus and refreshments.

“This is the year you will see the Village ready for the season as you stroll the grounds,” said Steve Nelson, Director and Honorary Mayor. “Experience the sights and sounds of what it would have been like to celebrate an old-fashioned 19th century Christmas in Provo.”

The special program includes music and dance. Visitors are encouraged to take their children to the school house to visit Santa Claus.

As at other times of the year, there are unique pioneer exhibitions in the historic huts, merchant, wagon, wood workshop, school house and in the forge.
