Shooting USA | Top Shotgun Shooter Join the Remington team

Remington Ammunition recently announced that it has formed an elite team of shooters to compete in this year’s top national and global competitions. The announcement of being Remington’s strongest team ever named seven of today’s top shooters, drawn from all competitive shotgun disciplines.

The Trap team has signed Sean Hawley from Vernal, Utah, and Chase Horton from St. Charles, Illinois. An Amateur Trapshooting Association (ATA) Hall of Fame Member, Hawley is one of the best all-round shooters on the ATA circuit. He is known for his double shooting and has won many awards at Grand American. In addition, Hawley is a multiple All-American, a gun club owner, and the current editor of Trapshooting USA magazine. Chase Horton is the 2020 ATA Open All-American team captain. As the top trap shooter, Horton graced the cover of the October 2019 issue of Trap & Field magazine (the official ATA publication) after winning the 120th Grand American Tournament in Sparta, Illinois, who won the High Overall Championship with a score of 982 x 1000.

On the skeet side, Remington has recruited Clay Baldwin from Corona Del Mar, California and Lauren Burge from Mount Pleasant, Texas along with NSSA master instructor and 24-time NSSA world champion Todd Bender. Clay Baldwin and Lauren Burge are the current Skeet High Overall World Champions and the 2021 captains of their respective NSSA All-American teams. Baldwin is a 16-time NSSA All-American and has won over 30 Arkansas Skeet titles. He is a 4-time Pan-American High Overall Champion. And while she was entering high school, Burge won the 2017 Ladies World Skeet Shooting Championship at the age of 15 – making it the youngest woman to ever receive the WSSC top award. In addition, Burge scored a perfect 400 x 400 points at the 2018 US Open.

Wendell Cherry, a world-famous trainer and sports clay champion on the PSCA and FITASC racetracks, represents the Remington team in athletic tones. Last month, Cherry, who is from Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee, secured a major overall award at the 2021 Zoli Classic held on January 28th and 31st at the South Florida Shooting Club in Palm City, Florida. Cherry is also an accomplished 5-booth shooter. Reanna Frauens from Coral Springs, Florida and Michael Luongo from Chester, SC will also be on Team Remington. Women, a freshman at the University of Florida, has won many SCTP awards in both sport and trap, and is also the current FITASC female champion. In particular, Frauens has won the Annie Oakley-style elimination competition among SCTP nationals on multiple occasions, which is held annually at the Cardinal shooting center.
