A Utah man previously jailed for rape was arrested for raping a teenage girl

Carbon County police arrested a man convicted of rape on another rape charge in 2006.

John Adam Bird, 41, admitted on January 27 that he had sexual intercourse with a 15-year-old girl in December. The girl told authorities that Bird forced her to undress while she was sitting with him in a vehicle in a remote area of ​​Carbon County.

“The 15-year-old woman said she said no and stopped several times while he was undressing her,” the PC statement said. After raping the girl, Bird warned her not to tell anyone what had happened, according to statements, because of his status as a sex offender.

Bird was arrested on January 28th and is charged with first degree rape. He was on parole at the time of his arrest.

According to court records, he was convicted of rape and violent sodomy in Uintah County in 2006 and sentenced to 15 years in Utah State Prison. That same year, he was also convicted of burglary, theft, and voyeurism in Carbon County, which a judge ordered to run concurrently with the Uintah County conviction.

Individuals charged with complaints are presumed innocent unless or until they have been found unequivocally guilty in court.
