Arlene Mecham Widdison Chandler

I, Arlene Mecham Widdison Chandler, the loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, died April 7, 2021 at the age of 86 and was reunited with my 46-year-old high school sweetheart, LaVell Thomas, Widdison Sr., mine five children, LaVell Thomas Jr., Michael Clarance (Angel in Heaven), Rickie Lynn and Jodie Royal Widdison, and parents Amos Cardell and Mary (Ekins) Mecham.

I was born in Provo, Utah, on December 14, 1934, and attended church and school in Murray, Utah through halfway through 7th grade. I later graduated from Wasatch High School in Heber City, Utah.

I married my high school sweetheart LaVell on August 23, 1951, at the age of 16 in the Salt Lake Temple, and we had five children together, all of whom died. I loved my children very much and loved looking after and spending time with my grandchildren.

I loved July 24th and sold balloons with my family. I also loved hunting, fishing and barbecuing, trips to Yellowstone and spending time with my family, and lots of sightseeing.

I have been a faithful member of Latter-day Saint Church of Jesus Christ and served in the Church. I was honored to be Charleston’s first cave mother for Boy Scouts. I have had many other Church callings as well, including five years in the Provo Utah Temple.

I was also active in the community. I had a lot of fun teaching 4-H cooking to teenage girls for 16 years. I was the captain of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers in Charleston Deer Creek Camo for two years. I was also a member of the Wasatch County Senior Citizens Board.

After LaVell passed away, on October 2, 2002, I married my second love of my life, Charles Wing Chandler, in Latter-day Saints Church of Jesus Christ. He was a wonderful man who spoiled me and took me on many trips around the world. Through this union I finally had four daughters.

In front of me lie my two husbands, five children, one granddaughter, four grandchildren, brother Jack Amos and parents Amos and Mary. I am survived by my sisters Virgie (Stan) Haskell, Janet (Randy) Maestas, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, stepdaughters Charlotte (Phil) Rosenberg, Rebecca Rockwell, Claudia (Keith) Bryan, Amy Chandler and friends.

At my request, a private funeral was held on Monday, April 12, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Charleston City Cemetery, 2800 US-189 Scenic, Heber City, UT 84032.

I would like to thank everyone involved, especially the Probst family funeral home.
