Betty Jean Johnston (July 7, 1936 – July 9, 2022)

Betty Jean Johnston passed away at her home on the evening of July 9, 2022 surrounded by her family.

Betty was born to Earl and Virginia Simmons on July 7, 1936 in Rock Springs Wyoming the family later moved to Evanston, Wyoming where she attend school and graduated. She then entered the army and served from July 1955 to July 1956.

She married Paul Wayne Johnston on November 3, 1956 in Evanston, Wyoming. She is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They were sealed as a family with their seven children in the Salt Lake City Temple in November 1976. Betty loved to square dance and was a member of the of the Sashay Partners and loved to sew making all of their square dance clothing. She was a member of the Red Hats, MADD, and was a Cub Scout leader.

Betty is survived by her children: Teresa (Mike) Helm of Vernal Utah, Pauline (Mark) Carpenter of Rock Springs Wyoming, Gene (Rhonda) Johnston of Loveland Co, Bonnie (Joe) Butler of San Antino Texas, Tammy Petersen of Las Vegas NV, Donald (Rachel) Johnston of Henderson NV, Tony (Laurie) Johnston of Rock Springs Wyoming, 27 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in in death by her husband Paul, parents Earl and Virginia, and sister Kathryn.

Funeral services will be held July 15, 2022 at 11 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2055 Edgar Street, Rock Springs, WY. A viewing will be held from 6-8 pm, Thursday, July 14, 2022 at Fox Funeral Home, 2800 Commercial Way Rock Springs and Friday prior to the services at the church. Military honors and interment will take place at the Rock Springs Municipal Cemetery.
