Bolts Boys Drop 66-56 to St. Thomas More | Local

The Thunder Basin High School basketball team lost their first game of the 66-56 season against St. Thomas More of South Dakota on Saturday to end the REMAX / Gillette Invite pre-season tournament at TBHS.

Bolts fell early as the Cavaliers started the game with a 9-2 run before finishing the first quarter 18-7. Thunder Basin cut the lead to 34-25 at halftime, but the Bolts defensive couldn’t collect enough stops to start the comeback.

Thunder Basin came up to seven points towards the end of the fourth quarter, but senior point guard Deegan Williams fouled just over a minute before the end of the game before St. Thomas More could freeze the game at the free throw line.

Williams finished the game with 28 points, followed by Bodie Williams with 10 and McKale Holte with eight.

The Bolts took the top spot on the WyoPrep.com Coach and Media Boy basketball rankings over the weekend and left the preseason tournament with a 2-1 record for the season.

Thunder Basin will head to Green River and Rock Springs for the Flaming Gorge Tournament next weekend. The Bolts start the tournament on Thursday evening.
