Brenda Mae Kinghorn Welch Obituary (1962-2021) – Ogden, UT

Brenda Mae Kinghorn Welch
January 18, 1962 ~ October 26, 2021
Brenda Mae Kinghorn Welch, 59, passed away on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 after a long battle with her health.
Brenda was born on January 18, 1962 in Ogden, Utah, the daughter of four children to their parents Ferris Kay Kinghorn “Casey” and Cornelia Mae Anderson “Mae”. She graduated from Bonneville High School and continued her education at Weber State University, where she graduated with two majors and graduated with honors in Psychology and Social Work.
Brenda was an LCSW and worked as a crisis counselor and at several care centers providing guidance to others. She was an eloquent writer and published several short stories throughout her life. She had three children and two other wonderful children when she married the love of her life, Scott T. Welch, on March 7, 1998 in the LDS Temple in Salt Lake City. Her sweet little family meant the world to her, and she spoke of every child with great pride. Her beloved husband died in 2003, after which Brenda never remarried.
Brenda loved to write, do handicrafts, garden and was a wonderful cook. She opened her heart and home to all those in need; she was “mom” not only for her children, but for everyone. Her pride and joy in life were above all her grandchildren, who brought her insurmountable happiness and were her “purpose in life”. Brenda’s beautiful spirit touched the lives of many – she loved unconditionally and deliberately. She spent the last five years of her life with her loving partner Thomas Hoose. During this time, he helped her through her worsening bone disease that prevented her from walking. The two found comfort together and enjoyed being grandparents.
She spent the last week of her life with her youngest daughter; bake, giggle, play with their grandchildren and really feel loved.
Brenda leaves behind her children Casey, Brianna, Kylie (Casey), Jason (Jessie), Andrea and so many grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Rhonda Fowler and brothers Roger and Randy. Her husband Scott and her loving parents preceded her in death.
Brenda, like her mother, was loved by everyone who knew her, and she loved her even more. Her sincere kindness and pure heart will never be forgotten. May we all learn to be a little more like Brenda.
