BYU athletes dress up in Halloween costumes for a trunk-or-treat event

PROVO, Utah – The annual BYU Athletics Trunk-or-Treat returned to its personal format on Wednesday night. Last year, due to COVID-19, the event, which since 2016 has become a staple for Cougar fans to interact with their favorite BYU athletes, took place as a drive through in the West Car Park near LaVell Edwards Stadium.

This year the celebration returned to the parking lot of the Student Athlete Building. Athletes from across BYU’s sports department, including the national soccer team, dressed up in Halloween costumes and handed out buckets of candy to enthusiastic fans.

The line for the event stretched from SAB to Cougar Blvd. But when fans stepped into the Trunk or Treat area, they were greeted by BYU, who founded QB Jaren Hall.

Hall was with his wife Breanna and daughter Jayda. The sophomore caller wore a safari outfit.

BYU head coach Kalani Sitake arrived a little later when he was in the SAB, which was taking down the Virginia movie. In the past few years he has dressed up as Milli Vanilli or DJ Khaled. There was no costume for the sixth year school principal this year, but he took the time to snap photos and sign autographs with the BYU fans who attended the event.

Other teams at Trunk-or-Treat were women’s volleyball, women’s soccer, baseball, men’s volleyball, and others. The BYU men’s basketball team also performed early in the event. BYU Women’s Basketball was also there.
