Call, Elton | Obituaries | postregister.com

Elton Lynn Call, 80, of Idaho Falls, died at his home on June 1, 2021. It was under the care of Nuclear Care Partners (NCP). Elton was born on January 7, 1941 in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Elton Davids Call and Verda Amelia Young Call. He was raised on the family farm in Grant for thirteen years before moving to Idaho Falls where he attended Idaho Falls High School. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Lynn was very patriotic and always wanted to be in the military. On his 17th birthday, he joined the United States Navy, where he served for 21 years. In 1979 he retired as Senior Chief. He served on the USS Midway and several other naval transports. Elton lived across the United States and the Pacific Rim. On June 30, 1961, he married Susan Elaine Dobson in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Two days before the wedding, Elton Lynn finally told Susan that his name was Elton and not Elgin! After retiring from the Navy, Elton and Susan settled in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where Elton worked at the INL. Until his retirement in 2000 he was project manager in the security department and head of security at MK. He often said to Susie, “I’ve been lucky all my life. I’ve had a great military career and a good civilian career.” When he came home on vacation, he would call “reveille reveille reveille reveille all hands-on deck” every morning to wake up his younger brothers and sisters. He loved his family, extended family and many friends with all his heart. He spent many of his happiest days fishing in the Flaming Gorge with his family and friends. He spent many Labor Day weekends at Jackknife seeing Elton David’s call again. These were some of his fondest memories; Cowboy golf, roasting marshmallows (cleaning marshmallows), shooting his big elk, fishing and, above all, drinking a beer by the crackling campfire and mostly telling true stories. Lynn was very knowledgeable about constellations and enjoyed late-night discussions about the stars in the sky. Lynn was the patriarch of our family. He was the most forgiving person and loved by everyone. He is much regretted. Elton leaves behind his loving wife, Susan Call, five siblings, five grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. In death he was preceded by his parents, brother, three daughters Rebecca Call, Linda Crosland and Rosalie Call; Grandson Zachary Elton Call and great-granddaughter Hailee Joy. A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, June 5, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road. Instead of flowers, the family suggests donating to a charity of their choice. Expressions of condolences can be made online to the family at www.woodfuneralhome.com. Elton 01/07/1941 – 06/01/2021
