Clyde Slaugh Obituary (1954-2021) – Vernal, UT

Clyde Dean Slaugh died on August 18, 2021 at home with his family – just as he would have liked. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, friend, and more.
He was born on February 22, 1954 in Rock Springs, Wyoming to Wesley Edward Slaugh and Buliah Marie Burton Slaugh. He grew up with his four brothers, Kenneth, Calvin, Jesse, and Allan in Meeker, Colorado and Manila, Utah. In 1974 he married the love of his life, Carol Lyn Beck, and they were sealed forever and ever on November 19, 1977 in the Salt Lake Temple. They lived in Meeker for a short time and then made their home in Birch Creek, Utah, where they raised 9 children – Cory, Casey, Kattie, Kale, Clint, Marie, Dani, Lynsie and Brian.
He worked for the Daggett County Roads Department for 38 years, spending his summers clearing timber sales and selling firewood and sawing logs. He served on the Daggett County School Board for 4 years and was a Daggett County Commissioner for 1 semester. He also ran a small herd of cows for several years. He loved cars! Everything about them, but particularly fast cars. His pride and joy was his 1981 Chevy El Camino, which he restored and showed at many motor shows. He loved hunting, music and history. He could tell you all about the history of the area. He also loved camping and always looked forward to the annual Little Hole camping trip with his brothers and their families. Most of all, he loved his 47-year-old wife, children and grandchildren. In the last month of his life a friend came up to him and asked if there was anything he could do for him. Clyde said, “If you want to make me happy, go find some of my grandchildren and bring them to me.” He was very much loved by his family and is greatly missed but never forgotten.
Clyde leaves behind his wife Carol, children Cory Thomas and Bryon from Mckinnon, Wyoming, Casey Slaugh and Audrey from Manila, Utah, Kattie Gahley and Rob from Manila, Utah, Kale Slaugh and Devon from Manila, Utah, Clint Slaugh and Kari from Vernal , Utah, Marie Montgomery and Ernest from Mesa, AZ, Dani Glidewell and Arlin from Ft. Worth, TX, Lynsie Smuin and Mason from Vernal, Utah, and Brian Slaugh from Salt Lake City, Utah, his two brothers Jesse Slaugh and Fran from Vernal, Utah, and Allan Slaugh and Mickie from Meeker, CO, and 27 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Wesley and Buliah Slaugh, two brothers – Kenneth Slaugh and Calvin Slaugh, and grandson Austin Reed Thomas
