Connie Clark-Callaway Obituary (1941 – 2022) – Orem, UT

Our beloved Mother, Sister, Grandmother, and Aunt and Friend passed away after a short illness. Connie was born to Hyrum “Boyed” and Alice Hardy in Salt Lake City, Utah, the second of 10 children.
She is preceded in death by 3 baby siblings, both parents, and her brother Richard. She was also preceded by her husband Reid, her husband Del, her daughter Laura, granddaughter Rachael, and her ex-husband, John.
She is survived by her children: Corinne (Pete) Kligmann, Michael (Jamie) Mutch, and Eric (Denise) Mutch; siblings: Karel Jordan, Gail (Richard) Cornelius, Steven (Connie) Hardy, Janice (Steven) Hardy, and Sheri Winn; 26 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
Connie had a large capacity for life, accomplishing in one life what would take others many lifetimes. During her early adult years, while busy raising a family, Connie and John blazed entrepreneurial trails. By the age of 23 they owned and operated a KFC franchise in California. A few years later they built a real-estate franchise, flipping houses before it became common place. During this same time, Connie received her nursing degree in 1963. She worked as a nurse for 20 years when she went back to school as a single mother and earned her master’s degree in Psychology. She worked as a therapist in various capacities until her retirement. Education was very important to her, and she was a lifelong learner.
Two highlights of her life were the 7 months she spent on a student visa in Israel and on a Senior Latter-day Saints Mission with her husband Reid in Perth, Australia. She and Reid were able to travel through-out Europe, the Middle East, and Australia.
During the later years of her life, she greatly loved living part-time in Hawaii with her husband Del.
Connie overcame several difficult challenges in her life both physical and emotional, and still stayed positive and giving. She loved giving gifts! She loved being a grandmother and took great joy in spending time with her grandchildren and family. She had lifelong friends who were pillars in her life and new friends that meant the world to her. She always did everything in the most dignified and poised way possible and encouraged those around her to take every opportunity for adventure.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and she has left a legacy that will continue.
