Crews respond to new fire in Uintah County

VERNAL, Utah – Crews responded to a new fire in southeast Vernal, Uintah county.

The Snake John Fire has been mapped over an area of ​​650 acres and is 60% contained in it, according to state fire officers.

“Crews will continue to secure the fire area this afternoon and expect increased containment this evening,” read a tweet from Utah Fire Info.

Some nearby oil and gas infrastructures were threatened by the fire, but on Saturday morning firefighters said this was no longer the case.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
