Darlene Buckley Jensen Evertsen Rushton Obituary (1936 – 2022) – Ogden, UT

Darlene Buckley Evertsen Rushton returned home to her loving Heavenly Father on Tuesday, August 16, 2022. She was born on April 13, 1936, to George Edgar and Myrtle Marguerite Jensen Buckley in Brigham City, Utah.
She graduated from Box Elder High School where she met her sweetheart, Rex, and married him on August 4, 1954. They were later sealed in the Logan Temple on April 16, 1963. To this union, they added four children: Lynn, Deborah , Lorie, and Jeffery. They moved to Virginia for Rex’s military service and then moved back to Brigham to raise their family. Darlene attended beauty school and was offered to buy the school, which she did and named it “Miss Darlene’s College of Beauty and Salon.” Following her husband’s death, she raised her family and maintained her business.
One happy day, Joseph William Evertsen, came strolling through the salon doors and swept Darlene off her feet. They were married in 1980. He passed away on May 26, 1986.
She found love once again and married Robert Rushton on October 22, 1999. She loved square dancing and was on a float square dancing and Bob brought her a drink of water and bouquet of roses and stole her away from her current beau. Bob was proud to teach her to drive an 18-wheeler. They bought property in Lava Hot Springs and Darlene designed her dream home there and shared many memories with family and friends. Lava was her happy place.
After Darlene was diagnosed and treated for breast cancer, she and Bob moved back to Perry, leaving her beloved Lava Ranch and the many friends she made there. She was a valiant fighter, not only with breast cancer, but also surviving a close call with COVID.
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in Relief Society, Young Women’s, Primary, and many other callings.
Darlene was skilled at crocheting, making afghans and doilies. She also enjoyed cooking, especially making Christmas candies, and sharing those talents with her friends and neighbors.
Even through her cancer she continued to serve those around her. Many will miss her homemade bread.
The family would like to thank the doctor and nurses at McKay-Dee ICU for all their love and care.
She is survived by her dear husband: Bob; children: Deborah Jensen, Jeffery Jensen (Warren Conner), Lorie Yates, and Lynn B. Jensen (Debbie); 7 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, her first two husbands, and her brother and sister.
