DeAnn Workman Stringham Obituary (1938-2021) – Vernal, UT

Our beloved mother, DeAnn W. Stringham, of Vernal, Utah, died with her family on November 22, 2021 in Sandy, Utah, aged 83.
She was born on June 9, 1938, in Vernal, Utah, to loving parents, Leland and Sarah Workman, to 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Bill Workman, Ted Workman, LaNae Merkley, Marie Gardner, Jim Workman and Nita Boren.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and valued her calling as a spiritual sister.
Mom loved her high school days and met her sweetheart, Kary D. Stringham. After studying for a semester at Utah State University, she returned home and married her lover on July 27, 1957. She was later sealed to him in 2014 in the Vernal Temple. Together they had 5 children.
Throughout her life, mom had several jobs, but the one she valued most was helping the elderly while in Dr. Paul Stringham’s office worked. She held this position for 17 years.
Mom and Dad enjoyed camping and hunting with family and friends. She loved the mountains, looked for arrowheads and practiced her yodelling with nature. She has passed this love for the mountains on to her children and grandchildren where many family gatherings have been held to share her laughter and love.
In their life with Kary, his work gave them the opportunity to live in Holland, London and a short stay in Germany. Mom’s loving and indulgent path led to many lifelong friends from all over the world.
After the death of her treasure, she moved back to Vernal. At home she discovered her love for golf, where she held several positions as a member of the Vernal Ladies Golf Association. She also loved writing poetry, painting oils, playing bridge, cheering on jazz, sewing bracelets and knitting her famous tea towels.
Mom was the quintessential fun grandma. She loved having a fun time with each of her 13 grandchildren. Many happy memories were created through her infectious laughter and love of games, including dominos, yahtzee, and greed. Grandma always reminded her grandchildren to help themselves to their treats drawer. She also loved her nieces and nephews and entertained them “with their funny stories and bubbly personality.”
As her children, our mother is a “classy lady”, always put together from head to toe to the end. She is the diamond in our eyes.
She leaves behind her 5 children: Bret (Denice) Stringham, Vernal, Utah; Bart (Terri) Stringham, Holly Lake Ranch, Texas; Chad (Natalie) Stringham, Logandale, Nevada; Kara (Mark) Gudac, West Jordan, Utah; and Jillyn (Steven) Bird, Salem, Utah.
Stepchildren: Mycolyn James, Riverton, Wyoming, and Kyle Stringham.
Grandchildren (13), great-grandchildren (30) and one on the way. Step-grandson (2)
Continued in death by their parents, husbands (Kary D. Stringham, Kent G. Stringham), siblings (Bill Workman, LaNae Merkley, Marie Gardner).
