Dixie passed away December 12, 2022 in Layton, UT.

She was born and raised in Harrisville, UT, and was proud of her pioneer heritage. Her parents are M. Robert Harris and Faye Williams Harris.

She worked at Hill AFB for 34 years, retiring in 2005. She loved her various jobs, the excellent training she received, and the wonderful people she was blessed to associate with. Dixie often said she “flunked retirement.” After she retired from Hill AFB, Dixie and her sister, Pat, job-shared as receptionist for Lindquist Mortuary in Ogden from 2008 to 2021. They both enjoyed working in that capacity and appreciated the tremendous opportunity it gave them to serve others.

She volunteered at Ogden Regional Medical Center for several years, serving in a variety of capacities from the newborn nursery to Volunteer Auxiliary President.

Dixie was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She knew and loved her Heavenly Father and her Savior, Jesus Christ and served them in many capacities.

She loved being creative and tried her hand at everything from calligraphy to quilting. She was an excellent seamstress and made many suits, dresses, slacks, and even her own Temple dress and Temple bag.

Dixie is survived by her husband, Richard; her dear only child, Robert E. Bottom, Jr; sisters, Pat Iannone and Roberta Ann Smith; aunts, Shirley Layton; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandparents; parents; brother, Ricky R Harris; precious grandson, Robert Wayne Bottom; and several dear friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at 2 pm at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 pm at Saturday from 12:30 to 1:30 pm at the mortuary. Interment, Aultorest Memorial Park.
