Does your child’s school district offer online learning options?

(ABC4) – COVID-19 has digitized the world, and that goes for school too!

Many Utah school districts have decided to offer online learning options for the 2021-2022 school year. These options are for students who prefer to study from home, as well as those who are not yet comfortable returning to face-to-face study.

The following school districts will launch a version of online learning for high school students this fall. Please check with your school district for more information.

Box Elder School District – The district will offer full-time online schools for high school students in grades 9-12. Interested students must enroll at Sunrise High School, a 24-credit school that offers online learning for the district.

Cache County School District – Online learning options are available to middle and high school students, but not to elementary school students. Elementary school students whose parents would prefer to study online can take advantage of other options, such as Washington County’s Utah Online School, according to the district.

Canyons School District – The district offers Canyons Online, a limited space program that allows students to study from home on a flexible schedule. The district’s website states that this is not a response to COVID-19 concerns and follows the same curriculum as face-to-face learning.

Carbon School District – Distance learning is offered to students who miss three or more consecutive school days.

Daggett School District – The district offers high school students the opportunity to study online through the BYU Independent Study program, which offers over 550 online courses for high school, middle school and college students. Edgenuity is also available for loan recovery. Contact your school advisor for more information or to sign up.

Davis School District – Davis Connect Online School is available to students from kindergarten through 12th grade. There are several options to choose from, including studying in an online classroom with an online teacher and peers. Other options allow parents to take the lead in teaching.

Granite School District – The district offers virtual classes for kindergarten through 12th grade. Students receive virtual interactions with lecturers, lectures, discussions and feedback for students.

Ben Horsley, the district’s communications director, says it has even offered online learning options for grades nine through twelve for COVID-19. After a parent survey, the district learned that around 5% or more families were still interested in online learning opportunities for the fall. The same hybrid option is available for high schools and a live option is available for all ages, explains Horsley.

Iron County School District – Online learning options are available for students in kindergarten through 12th grade. Elementary school students (Kindergarten through Grade 6) can enroll at K-6 Online School, where they can get online support from an Iron District teacher during school hours.

Secondary school students (7th through 12th grade) can study through the Sundance Learning Group for a personalized learning experience.

Jordan School District – The district offers the Jordan Virtual Learning Academy for all students from kindergarten through 12th grade for the school year 2021-2022. There is no fee for this online option and students in 7th through 12th grades can enroll either full-time or part-time.

Juab School District – Students can choose from a variety of educational options, including a mixed environment that allows them to attend classes both in person and digitally. Students can also choose to study entirely online using digital resources.

Murray School District – Parents are required to indicate whether their child is studying online or in person when registering for the 2021-2022 school year, according to Doug Perry, director of Communications and Public Information for the Murray School District. Students can start the year online and return to face-to-face learning at the end of the semester.

Morgan School District – Parents can enroll their children in Morgan Online School, which starts September 1st. This option is also open to house school students.

Nebo School District – All families worried about sending their students to school this fall can enroll them in the district’s online school, the Nebo Online Learning Summit, according to Lana Hiskey, Communications & Community Relations Administrator.

North Sanpete School District – The district is partnering with Edgenuity to offer online and blended learning options. All students from Kindergarten through Grade 12 who study online are enrolled at Pleasant Creek School.

Ogden School District – The district offers a limited number of openings for the Ogden Online Elementary School. Students learn basic fundamentals such as English language arts, math, science, and social studies.

Park City School District – Grades 7-12 students can enroll to study through Utah Student Connect, which will receive original credits, credit reclamation, and grades awarded. Students can enroll online for up to six credits per year after meeting with a school counselor. According to the district’s website, students are required to take final exams in a supervised location in the Park City School District.

Provo City School District – Students who choose digital learning are assigned a Provo Digital Learning Teacher and are required to commit to the entire first semester or quarter of the year. Students receive lessons in core subjects and additional support in other subjects, according to the website.

Salt Lake City School District – The district offers virtual and remote online learning experiences for elementary, middle, and high school students. High school students can choose to attend Innovations Early College High School, Utah Students Connect, or the nationwide online education program.

Tooele County School District – Kindergarten through 12th grade students can choose to study online through Blue Peak Online or My Tech High. Blue Peak Online is taught by licensed teachers in the school district. According to the district’s website, students can re-enroll for face-to-face learning every quarter.

Wasatch School District – Wasatch Learning Academy enables parents to be their children’s primary learning coach. Students can select specific classes through Harmony Educational Services. According to the district website, Harmony can reimburse the cost of reliable internet service.

Washington County School District – The district will offer free online public schools through the Utah Online School.

Weber School District – The district offers online courses for ninth through twelfth grade students through Weber Online. Full-time enrollment is also possible for first to eighth grade students who live within the district boundaries.

Utah Online School – According to the program’s website, Utah Online School is offered to all high school students in Utah from kindergarten through 12th grade. It’s a free online public school.
