These hours must comprise at least 9 SWS in ecology and 12 SWS in physics and mathematics. FORESTWIRTSCHAFTSREIHE (0460): Successful completion of a full 4-year course at a recognized college or university with a bachelor’s degree or higher, which includes the main subject forestry; OR in a related subject that comprises a total of at least 30 semester hours in any combination of biological, physical, mathematical or engineering sciences, of which at least 24 semester hours in forestry; OR a combination of education and experience in courses equivalent to a major in forestry, or at least 30 semester hours in a combination of biological, physical or mathematical sciences or engineering, of which at least 24 semester hours in forestry. The requirements for diversifying the 24 hours per week in forestry are the same as outlined below, plus appropriate experience or additional training. The curriculum must be diversified enough to include courses in each of the following areas: Renewable Resource Management: Study the science and art of renewable resource management to achieve the desired results. Examples of creditable courses in this area are silviculture, forest management, wood management, forest fire science or fire management, use of forest resources, forest regulation, recreation land management, water catchment management, and wildlife or habitat management. Forest biology: study of the classification, distribution, properties and identification of forest vegetation and the interactions of living organisms with the forest environment. Examples of creditable courses in this area include dendrology, forest ecology, silvics, forest genetics, wood structure and properties, forest soils, forest entomology, and forest pathology. Forest resource measurements and inventory: sampling, inventory, measurement and analysis techniques applied to a wide variety of forest resources. Examples of qualifying courses are forest biometrics, forest measurement, forest assessment, statistical analysis of forest resource data, inventories and analyzes of renewable natural resources as well as photogrammetry or remote sensing. IN ADDITION TO FULFILLING THE BASIC QUALIFICATIONS, you must have the professional experience and / or university education listed below. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically associated in or with the work of the position to be filled and that has provided you with the specific knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the tasks of the position. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-11: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least grade GS-09. To qualify for this grade level, your resume must reflect at least 3 out of 4 of the following: use advanced analytical tools such as geographic information systems, spatial statistics, computer models, relational databases to produce routine and special reports and technical notices or bulletins; Interpreting statistical results of natural resource data analysis to produce presentations for program data customers, stakeholders, and land resource managers; Using knowledge of environmental and / or forestry practices related to forest inventory data to develop database queries in response to inquiries from stakeholders; Use data visualization methods, including geographic information systems (GIS), to display and communicate the results of maps, graphs, and tables of ecological scientific research. GS-12: At least one year of specialized experience corresponding to at least grade level GS-11. A university-level education alone does not qualify for the GS-12 grade level. Specialized experience is experience that has provided the applicant with the specific knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and which are typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To qualify for this grade level, your resume must reflect at least 3 out of 4 of the following: Use the Forest Inventory and Analysis (FIA) database and statistical software packages to test and study remote forest vegetation data; Analyze forest structure, function and dynamics with field-based sampling, simulation modeling, remote sensing and spatial statistics; Preparation of forest inventory reports and / or magazine articles and presentations based on statistical results from analysis of FIA data; Recommend improvements to the procedures for collecting, verifying, compiling, and summarizing strategic inventory data. Work experience: Your CV must clearly document the following for each internship block; Day, month and year of the beginning and the beginning of the work assignment; the weekly working hours; Position title and, if applicable, row and grade (salary); and description of the tasks performed.
