Eleanor Hacking Scott February 18, 1937 ~ August 24, 2022

Eleanor Hacking Scott, 85, of Trinity Center, CA passed away peacefully on August 24, 2022, following a brief illness. She was a strong, confident, accomplished woman who cared deeply for her family, and lived life to the fullest.
Born February 18, 1937, in Vernal, UT, Eleanore was the oldest of six children. Her strong will and determination came from her mother, Mildred Hacking, and her strong work ethic came from her father, Grant Hacking.
On the farm there was always hard work to be done, but still time to enjoy fresh watermelon, and swim in the irrigation canal, as well as other adventures growing up in the country.
Eleanor graduated from Uintah High School in 1955, and Brigham Young University in 1959, receiving a bachelor’s degree in Nursing. She was president of the BYU Student Nurses Association, and a member of the BYU Nurses NCAA basketball team.
Eleanor loved being a nurse, and for the next 50+ years, devoted her life to the care and treatment of others.
Starting at Uintah County Hospital, her career included employment at Stanford University, BYU Health Center, Utah Valley Hospital, San Juan Hospital in Monticello, and Redding Medical Center, where she worked for 42 years.
She is credited with saving many lives, including delivering a baby in her living room one evening for a couple who knew they wouldn’t make it to the hospital, but that Eleanore was just down the road.
On another occasion, a young man had been run over by a boat on Trinity Lake and was bleeding profusely from multiple lacerations from the boat’s propeller. The young man asked Eleanor if he was going to die, to which she assured him, “Not on my watch.”
Eleanor was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and especially enjoyed time with grandchildren.
She also loved her community of Trinity Center, sharing her time (and very often her opinion), with her many friends and acquaintances.
Eleanor loved meeting new people. It was not uncommon for her to meet a stranger in the morning and have them to the house for dinner that night.
Eleanor was an accomplished pilot, often flying back and forth to work in Redding.
She also served for many years with the Trinity Center Volunteer Fire Department as the Captain of Medical Services, and EMT Instructor.
Throughout her life, Eleanor was committed to the teachings of Jesus Christ, and knew one day he would call her home. She was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, holding many church callings over the years.
Eleanor is survived by her husband of 56 years, Lynton “Lyn” Scott, son Craig Scott (Vicki), daughter Marilyn Scott Cox (Dave), stepchildren Mark Scott, Debbie Robbins and Steve Scott, brothers Brent and Doug Hacking, sister Barbara Hacking Hall, beloved sister-in-law and long-time neighbor Mary Hamilton, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
She is preceded in death by sisters Sandra Ely, Marilyn Beesley and stepdaughter Julie Reichmann.
In lieu of flowers, if you happen to see a deer dining on someone’s apple tree, Eleanor would appreciate you shooting it with a BB gun!
