FBI, Bureau of Indian Affairs investigating shooting in Duchesne County

DUCHESNE COUNTY, Utah — The FBI and Bureau of Indian Affairs, with the assistance of the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office, are investigating a shooting involving a Ute Tribe Fish and Wildlife Officer.

According to a statement from the FBI, the shooting occurred Sunday afternoon in Uinta Canyon.

“An adult male and female were shot and flown to hospitals in Colorado. Their current conditions are unknown.”

The Ute Tribe Fish and Wildlife Officer wasn’t injured.

Officials with the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office added Monday night that the shooting took place just north of Neola “following a UTV incident on tribal lands.”

Since the investigation is ongoing, no other information has been released.
