PROVO, Utah, October 31, 2021 (Gephardt Daily) – A GoFundMe account was set up on behalf of a Provo boy who was riding his bike on Thursday when he was hit and injured by a hit and run driver.

“Henry was a victim of a hit-and-run accident while riding his bike,” says the GoFundMe site.

“He has three broken ribs, a broken face on his face, staples in his leg, third degree liver and kidney injuries, internal bleeding, a concussion and in addition to a terrible rash that covers his entire body. We are on our third night at the Primary Children’s Hospital. “

The 8-year-old boy was riding his bike in Area 200 N. 800 West, southwest of Dixon Middle School, at 5:18 pm.

A nearby Provo police officer rushed to check the boy, but could not see the license plate number of the overspeeding SUV.

The department has asked people to come forward with possible leads.

“The vehicle left the scene immediately,” said the police report. “The police are asking the community for help in identifying the vehicle and / or the driver. The vehicle is a newer silver Nissan SUV model with slight front damage.

“If you have a home or security camera business near this location, please check back around 5:18 pm and contact Provo Police if you have a picture of the vehicle. If you have any information that could help us identify the vehicle or driver, please call Provo Police at 801-852-6210. “

The GoFundMe account asked for help with bills related to the accident.

“We need all the help we can get,” they say. “If you can, help me, I would be very grateful. I am a single parent and will not be able to work during his months of recovery. “
