George Earl Ogden
Jasper – George Earl Ogden, 76 years old, of Jasper, New York, died on Thursday July 1, 2021 at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre. He was born on March 6, 1945 in Corning, NY to Charles and Dorothy (Horton) Ogden. After 46 years of service, he retired as a painter at Dresser Rand in 2004.
From 1962 to 1965 he served his country in the US Army.
George will be remembered as an all-rounder outdoors; a man of many adventures. He was an expectant and hardworking farmer who raised countless cattle, horses, goats and chickens. George was also a trained carpenter who loved tinkering around the farm.
He enjoyed raccoon hunting and testing, fishing, hunting, horse shows, and riding in rodeos.
George is survived by significant others: Ruth Troxel of Jasper; 2 children: Charles (Pamela) Ogden of Campbell, Michael (Stacy) Ogden of Campbell; Brother: Harry Ogden of Savona; 3 stepchildren: Rick (Valorie) Troxel of Liberty, PA, Randy (Chere) Troxel of Jasper, Rachel (Chad) Houghtalling of Jasper; 9 grandchildren: Sean, Darwin, Brandon, Brett, Jordan, Michael, Kimberly, Tyler, Tionna; 11 step-grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; together with several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, George had previously died from several aunts and uncles.
Family and friends are invited to call Carpenter’s Funeral Home, 14 E. Pulteney Street, Corning, NY, on Thursday, July 8, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A funeral service with Pastor Greg Ferguson follows immediately. A private family burial with military honors is held at Bath National Cemetery at the family’s discretion.
