Goldcolor’s green double lifts Ogden Raptors to an 8-6 win over Billings | Ogden raptors

For a team struggling to find consistency, giving up a 6-3 lead late could cause the negative mental wheels to turn.

But Jakob Goldfarb was back in control and hit a green double in the eighth inning and the Ogden Raptors defeated the Billings Mustangs 8-6 on Thursday evening at Lindquist Field.

With the game tied 6-6, Owen Taylor led the bottom of eighth place with a singles. Troy Dixon came to the pinch run for Taylor and switched to second base with an Andy Armstrong victimbunt.

Goldfarb rapped a double into midfield, scoring Dixon and scoring himself on a Nick Michaels single for the 8-6 lead.

John Timmins took the hill for Ogden in ninth place and knocked out the side, all three Mustangs swinging to the ground to end the game in front of 4,101 fans.

Chris Caffrey and Josh Broughton hit Homers in the second inning to give the Raptors an early 5-1 lead. Billings cut it in the top of the fourth to 5-3. Ogden loaded the bases into the lower part of that frame with no outs, but got only one run on a groundout and two batters strikes out to end the threat.

Nico Tellache got off to a good start as usual, beating seven batter in 6 1/3 innings. But he was held in seventh place by a 6-3 lead and lagged behind with 6-4 and two runners on the base.

Jackson Sigman couldn’t clean it up for Tellache and Billings split it 6-6, putting out Tellache as a record pitcher.

Dylan Pearce took the win, throwing a goalless eight and hitting two. Ogden pitchers hit 12 thugs.

The two teams will continue the series on Friday at 7 p.m.
