William Lynn Hopkins died on June 6, 2021 in Rexburg Homestead. Lynn was born on May 16, 1944 in Rexburg, Idaho, to William H. and Edna Campbell Hopkins. They lived on a small farm two miles east of Tetonia, Idaho. Four years later, his sister Donetta joined the family. Lynn went to school in Tetonia for eight years and then to Driggs for high school. He played soccer for four years and was in the band. He enjoyed his high school experience, graduating from Teton High School in 1962. He had a variety of summer jobs, from hauling pipes and herding in the mountains to working on the road in Grand Teton National Park. He went to Ricks College for a year. He then served as a missionary in Denmark for two and a half years. He returned to Ricks College for summer school, where he met his future wife, Sandra Quirl. He went to BYU in the fall of 1966. He started dating Sandra at BYU and they married a year and a half later, in September 1968. They went to school together in their senior year and graduated in 1969. Lynn worked as a social worker for Family Services in Vernal, Utah, State Hospital South at Blackfoot, and Youth Services Center in St. Anthony. In May 1980 they started building their house northeast of Teton and lived there for forty years. You live in Rexburg now, but Teton is still at home. Lynn was an insurance agent until he retired in 2021. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served for many years as a bishopric counselor, high priest group leader, and tax officer. He was a loyal home teacher. He was very supportive of his wife’s callings. He enjoyed working in the temple’s baptistery. Lynn was very fond of his family and was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He taught by example how to treat others. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting, and loved having children or grandchildren with him. He enjoyed watching them catch a fish or game more than he did. They loved him. He had a dry joke and was an eye catcher that we will miss. Lynn leaves behind his 52-year-old wife, Sandra; his daughter Ann Martindale (Terry); 4 grandsons Travis Ricks (Tiffany), McKenzie Martindale, Marissa Martindale, Kierche Martindale, 1 great grandson River and his sister Donetta Anderson (Jay). His parents preceded him in death; one son, Travis Hopkins; a grandson, Billy Rees; Niece Chalyce Young; and brother-in-law Kelly Hymas. The family thanks for all the kindness that was shown.
