Hunting, fishing will be forbidden to Utahns behind on child support

If a Utah resident needs more than $ 2,500 in child child support as of tomorrow, they will not be able to obtain a hunting or fishing permit.

House Bill 197 was passed in the last Utah legislature, signed by Governor Spencer Cox, and comes into effect Thursday. The new law prohibits anyone who owes $ 2,500 or more in child support from catching fish or animals in the state, as regulated by the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources.

A person who is behind cannot buy a permit until they have fully caught up and the country’s salvage office has recorded the payment to the DWR. The bill was sponsored by MP Karianne Lisonbee.
