Intermountain Healthcare acquires Sears old property in Salt Lake City

Intermountain Healthcare officials have confirmed the organization has acquired additional land in downtown Salt Lake City.

Intermountain Healthcare spokesman Jess Gomez told 2News that the healthcare system acquired the old Sears property at 800 South and State Streets.

In a statement, the health system said the land was being used to “improve health services for residents of the area.”

As part of our ongoing commitment to providing high quality, affordable, and accessible care to patients, Intermountain Healthcare has acquired a property in downtown Salt Lake City for future use to improve health services for residents of the area. Plans are still being developed. Details will be announced at a later date.

Intermountain Healthcare has not released any information about what it plans to do with the property.

Back in 2017, Sears announced that the Salt Lake City location was one of 18 stores scheduled to close in January 2018.
