York have signed Jamaican international Jacob Ogden from championship rivals London Broncos on a two-year deal.

The 23-year-old Center graduated from the Academy in London and made his first team debut for the Broncos in 2018. He has played more than 50 career games and has been on loan to London Skolars, Coventry and Sheffield.

On signing Ogden, York manager James Ford said: “Jacob is a very strong and athletic player who has a good level of drive to develop his game.

“We’re all very keen to work with him to help him develop his game and become a very dangerous center.”

Ogden, who is expected to play for Jamaica against the England Knights tonight, has won two internationals for the Reggae Warriors. His goal is to play at the World Cup next year.

He said: “I’m going to play this Friday and I definitely have my eyes on the World Cup. When I train and play, I always keep in mind that I have to perform to get into the World Cup squad.

“It’s a small thing for me and I’m looking forward to training for it. I have to keep an eye on my goals and hopefully I can do it. “

York signs London Broncos striker

York has signed hooker Sam Davis of the London Broncos for a year for the 2022 championship season.

The 22-year-old, who is the brother of Warrington striker Matt, will move north next season as he becomes the eleventh player to sign for the Knights in 2022.

Originally from the Midlands, Davis was picked up by the London Academy at the age of 17 and made his first-team debut in 2018. That season he played eight games for the Broncos.

James Ford, York City Knights coach, said: “I’m excited to sign Sam. He is a tenacious whore who provides energy and exertion in abundance.

“It will give our middle unit an enormous amount of competitive spirit.”
