Jesard Morrise Obituary (1925 – 2021) – Roy, UT

Our beloved father, Jesard “Jes” Morrise, born on June 16, 1925, left this life on June 25, 2021 at the age of 96. We will miss his dedicated leadership very much.

Jes was born in West Hollywood, California, the second of three children to Jacques H. Morrise and Florence M. Gilfert. In his youth he enjoyed deep sea fishing with his father, from whom he learned how to shoe horses. He later learned the trade of machinist and learned to measure with micrometers.

During the Korean War, Jes served his country in the Army Transport Battalion, Railway Company, in Pusan. On his way to Korea, Jes met the love of his life and his future wife Martha Jane Pettijohn while on vacation in Seattle. While stationed in Korea, he joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served actively throughout his adult life.

Jes and Martha married on February 14, 1953 and soon moved to Provo, Utah, where Jes earned a Bachelor of Arts in Industrial Education from Brigham Young University. While Jes and Martha lived in Provo, Wymount Village, three sons were born – Mark, Marshall and Matthew.

Jes’ first job after college was with the Boeing Company in Seattle, where their fourth child, Geoffrey, was born. The family then moved to Roy, Utah, where the last two children, Michelle and Scott, were born.

Jes was a very hard worker all his life. His manufacturing jobs have taken him to many different locations including Louisiana, Maryland, Georgia, Tennessee, New York and far-flung Singapore. He is co-inventor of US patent 3825125.

Jes had a knack for fixing things, spending hundreds of hours helping neighbors fix appliances and cars.

Later in life, Jes and Martha enjoyed serving as missionaries in a special needs branch, and Jes attended math classes at Weber State University.

Jes preceded his parents, his brothers Jacques and Ganord, his wife Martha and his grandson Danny in death. Jes leaves behind his children Mark (Florence), Marshall (Susan), Matthew (Judy), Geoffrey (Vicki), Michelle (Stan) and Scott (Glenda) as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
