September 25, 1964 – October 19, 2021
Our whole world died in the early morning of October 19, 2021. Our beloved wife, mother, sister, and matriarch of her extended family was called to return to our Heavenly Father. Joan was the sunshine for everyone who knew and loved her.
There wasn’t a task too big or too small that she didn’t want to solve. Her bright smile, energetic eyes, and compassionate heart made it easy for her to connect with friends and new relationships. She will miss very much everyone who knew and loved her.
Joan was born on September 25, 1964 in Ogden, Utah, to Spencer Foulger Klomp and Janice Elaine Parkinson Klomp. She graduated from Sky View High School in Smithfield, Utah in 1982. She visited the states of Weber and Utah for her education. On September 7, 1990, she married Count Troy William for all time and forever at St. George Temple.
Joan was a living and endless source of love and compassion. Every single life that touched her was better off because they got to know her and felt the warmth of her loving spirit. Joan knew how to make anyone feel better, no matter how sad or impossible the situation was. She had a lovely way of expressing compassion, optimism, and wisdom that she freely and endlessly passed on to anyone who needed it, just like her mother.
She was happiest and more energetic when she was surrounded by family; Playing table games and laughing as their children’s diverse personalities mingled. Holidays were an opportunity for her to share her talents and bring magic into the lives of those who came to visit. Joan was exceptional at turning the simplest of situations into lifelong memories. Even though she left too early, she left so many lives full of amazing memories for so many people.
She was a dedicated wife and mother who put her family above everything. She cooked great meals and brought love and laughter into our lives. She spent countless hours comforting her family and giving them “nice tickles” with her french tip nails. She brought warmth and love to every room she entered. She enjoyed playing the piano and encouraging her children to develop their musical talents.
She was a caring and hardworking sister to her four brothers and one sister who was always available to help and support wherever she could. She has been a thoughtful and invaluable friend to many. Everyone who knew her looked up at her and at her ability to organize, guide, and juggle many plates while wearing multiple hats. She spent most of her free time serving others.
Joan was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served faithfully in many callings. Their testimony continues with their children. Joan enjoyed reading her scriptures and Church history books. She always emphasized the importance of family and education. She was involved in genealogy and loved researching family history. For the past 10 years she has been passionate about cultural interrelation by hosting Korean exchange students.
Joan preceded her father Spencer F. Klomp and mother Janice E. Klomp in death. Joan leaves behind her husband Troy Graf and four children: Cortney and Sebastian Nay, Herriman, Utah; Jason Graf, St. George, Utah; Jessica Graf, St. George, Utah; Dallin Earl, St. George, Utah.

Bluff St, St. George, Utah, 84770 St. George, Utah, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on November 5, 2021. The pre-funeral viewing will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Santa Clara 14th Ward at 630 Riesling Ave, Santa Clara, Utah, 84765 under the direction of Bishop Day.
