Kaelyn Johnson Obituary (1955 – 2022) – Orem, UT

Kaelyn Johnson was born May 3, 1955 to KV and Donna Johnson. She graduated from Provo City schools and earned her college degrees from Snow College and Brigham Young University where she was involved with the Speech and Debate teams. This experience brought her the opportunity to become the Speech and Debate coach at Timpview High School. Kaelyn also earned a Master’s degree in Communications from Gonzaga University. During her summers off teaching, she started her career working with the National Park Service and the National Park Police. She eventually retired from teaching and committed her full-time career to the government. She told everyone teaching school was too stressful, so she changed to being a 911 dispatcher. She worked at Grand Teton National Park, Sequoia National Park, Yellowstone National Park, and the San Francisco Field Office for the National Park Police which included the National Golden Gate Recreation Area. She served on several National Committees connected with developing standards for emergency team responses. She retired from government service and moved back to Provo last September.
Her passion was being involved in a Renaissance Guild. She loved preparing for and participating in all activities related to Renaissance. She fully emersed herself in the personality she adopted, Dame Brianna de St Joer, at the Renaissance Faires and other activities by wearing the gowns she had made herself and evolving her character of Dame Bri.
She faced Myasthenia Gravis, the same way she did everything else, head on and no holds barred. Despite how much pain or how bad she was feeling, she always had a smile and encouragement for whoever she was interacting with. Her life touched innumerable other lives. Everyone around her, and numerous times even those she did not know, benefited from her talents and intelligence. She loved everyone and everyone loved her back.
As per her wishes, a graveside service will be held at 12:00 pm, Saturday, May 7, 2022 at the family plot in the southwest corner of the Provo City Cemetery, 610 South State Street, Provo, Utah. Graveside services are being provided by Berg Mortuary. A video recording of the service will be available to view after the service on the Berg Mortuary website.
