Kenneth Phillip Martinez

November 19, 1958 ~ October 11, 2022

Kenny’s journey here on earth ended unexpectedly on October 11, 2022. When that journey finally ended, he claimed a great reward, everlasting peace together with our Lord. Kenny was doing what he loved – living, camping, hunting, just being in the great outdoors, especially at Sourdough Wilderness Ranch with his sons, grandson, family and friends. He was born November 19, 1958 to Alonzo and Theresa Martinez in Ogden. He graduated from Ogden High School in 1977 and attended Utah Valley College in Orem to play baseball for a season.

Kenny married the love of his life, his angel, Antoinette Maestas on August 29, 1981. He worked construction, the oil rigs, even built roller coasters. In 2016, he retired from HAFB after 31 years of service as a C-130 supervisor.

Kenny enjoyed fishing, especially the rivers here in Ogden and Morgan County. He played league softball for many years. They would win berth to other tournaments, which required a lot of traveling during the season. He also played league basketball. Kenny was a morning person, up around 4:30 am, took his daily nap, and went to bed early. He got teased a lot, but the coffee was always ready for the early morning stories. His latest passion for the last 10 plus years was bowling (ha-ha). He said he hated the game, but always showed up the following week. He attended the bowling nationals, which took him traveling throughout the states. He loved golfing, playing horseshoes and corn hole. Kenny was loved by all, a life well lived, no regrets, one-of-a-kind, great beautiful smile and the best cook ever! His favorite quote was “I go to the mountains to be soothed and healed and put my stresses in order.”

Kenny is survived by his wife, Antoinette; sons Phillip (Angel) Martinez and Adrian Martinez; grandchildren Destiny McCubbin and Zayn Martinez; Siblings Gary (Maria) Martinez, Anthony (Judy) Martinez and Elizabeth Garcia (Tony Cano). He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Larry (Rose) Martinez.

A funeral Mass was celebrated on October 21, 2022 at St Joseph Catholic Church, Ogden. Interment, Aultorest Memorial Park.
