The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has released the Ephraim-Utah Temple location announced in May by Church President Russell M. Nelson.

The temple will be constructed on 9.16 acres at the intersection of 200 North and 400 East in Ephraim. A three-story temple of around 39,000 square meters is planned.

Detailed design plans for these temples are still being developed. More information – including interior and exterior presentations – will be released later. Groundbreaking dates have not yet been set. Project leaders will soon begin working with city officials in these locations on preliminary plans for the temples, and leaders will begin filing public documents in the coming months.

In addition to the Ephraim Temple, Utah has announced 14 temples in operation, seven under construction, three under renovation and three. These include: Bountiful, Brigham City, Cedar City, Deseret Peak, Draper, Heber Valley, Jordan River, Layton, Lindon, Logan, Manti, Monticello, Mount Timpanogos, Ogden, Oquirrh Mountain, Orem, Payson, Provo City Center, Provo, Red Cliffs, Salt Lake, Saratoga Springs, Smithfield, St. George, Syracuse, Taylorsville and Vernal Utah Temples. Temple of Ephraim will serve more than 31,000 Latter-day Saints in this temple district.

Church temples are different from meetinghouses or chapels, where members meet for Sunday services. Each temple is considered the “house of the Lord” where the teachings of Jesus Christ are reaffirmed through sacred ceremonies such as marriages that unite families forever and vicarious baptisms for deceased ancestors who were unable to be baptized during their lifetime .
