Lee Greenwood tabbed to headline Stadium of Fire | Provo News

The big question that arises in Utah County is now answered: Lee Greenwood will be coming on July 3rd for the 40th Anniversary of the Stadium of Fire in Provo.

After postponing last year’s celebrations for the first time in Stadium of Fire history, America’s Freedom Festival organizers have never been more excited to celebrate Independence Day weekend with Utah and the world.

“It’s been a busy year for America and our community here in Utah, but our nation is strong and we are delighted to be back in the stadium to celebrate our independence,” said Jim Evans, executive director of America’s Freedom Festival at Provo . “It’s the 40th anniversary of Stadium of Fire and we’re not holding back. This is going to be a great show! “

The 2021 Fire Stadium of the Freedom Festival at LaVell Edwards Stadium on July 3 will feature Grammy-winning country music icon Greenwood and country star Collin Raye for the second time.

Greenwood was featured at the stadium in 1984 with Donny, Marie and Jimmy Osmond.

Until his appearance, the Osmonds from 1980-1983 could be seen in the Stadium of Fire. The event was started in 1980 by producers Merrill and Alan Osmond.

In addition to Greenwood and Raye, the popular stadium show will feature the world-famous action sports team Nitro Circus with their characteristic motorcycle stunts against gravity.

The real star of the event is of course the biggest stadium fireworks display in the USA. The pyrotechnics will close the evening with an incomparable spectacle with the 500-voice Millennial Choir.

Traditionally, the extravaganza begins with the colorful arrival of skydivers from the air and includes a thrilling transfer of F-35 jets from Hill Air Force Base, Utah.

Tickets will be available on Stadiumoffire.com for Freedom Festival email subscribers from May 19, 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Stadiumoffire.com. They will be made available to the general public on Stadiumoffire.com from 1:00 p.m. on the same day

With people wanting to get out and party this summer, the Freedom Festival directors are encouraging people to buy tickets ASAP. Currently, COVID-19 restrictions still apply to large stadium gatherings. While they expect to open more seats if COVID numbers go down, there are still some seating restrictions in place.

Tickets are expected to sell out quickly, so the public is encouraged to make plans well in advance.

In addition to a military flyover and inspiring patriotic honors, guests can also expect warm greetings to Utah’s first responders during the pandemic.

The entire event will be broadcast to more than 1 million military personnel in more than 100 countries via the American Forces Network.

With seven No. 1 songs and 25 chart singles, Greenwood is an acclaimed country musician. Greenwood has won numerous industry awards, including Male Vocalist of the Year from the Academy of Country Music, two Time Vocalist of the Year awards from the Country Music Association, and a Grammy for Top Male Vocal Performance for his 1985 hit “IOU” The CMA “God Bless the USA” was also named song of the year.

“God Bless the USA” went way beyond what Greenwood expected when he wrote it in 1983 on his tour bus. The song was in the top 5 of the country singles chart three times (1991, 2001, and 2003) and was honored for being the only song in a musical genre that accomplishes this feat.

It was also number 1 on the pop charts after 9/11 and became part of the national healing process. CBS News voted “God Bless the USA” as the most famous patriotic song in America.

“(‘God Bless the USA’) is the song I always had to write,” Greenwood said in a press release. “I wanted something that would unite Americans from coast to coast and make America proud again. The song represents my family, my community, and those men and women who have paid the price for the freedoms we all love and enjoy. “

Nitro Circus has had some big action sports moments for nearly two decades, but according to the Freedom Festival press release, the group were born to humble beginnings in a Utah garage back in 2003.

Travis Pastrana and his friends initially sold homemade DVDs of stunt antics – incredibly clever, undoubtedly sensible, and yet undeniably entertaining at the same time. Since then, the group’s popularity has skyrocketed. She produced successful television shows, released a 3D movie worldwide, established a live touring phenomenon that travels across continents each year, and created a world-renowned action sports competition.

“Nitro Circus was originally scheduled to perform at the Stadium of Fire last year before the show was postponed,” said Evans. “We are thrilled that you can postpone this summer. Stunt performances are one of the most popular traditions at the Stadium of Fire. And Nitro Circus has some incredible stunts planned for this year. “

Raye is known for his songs “Love, Me”, “My Kind of Girl” and “I Can Still Feel You”.

With 24 top 10 records, 16 No. 1 hits and 10 times nominations for Male Singer of the Year, Raye remains one of the great country voices of our time according to the Freedom Festival.

Millennial® Choirs & Orchestras is already in its 14th season with more than 5,000 participants in Utah, California, Arizona, Texas and Idaho. In a short period of time, MCO has more than achieved its main purpose – to meet the need for refined music education and performance with a focus on God and the land. The choir will perform a selection from “To Be American”, which debuted at number 1 on the “Classical Albums” and “Classical Crossover Albums” charts on Billboard Magazine.

With some of the best entertainment in the country, inspiring patriotic moments, and spectacular pyrotechnic performances, Stadium of Fire is one of the longest running and most popular patriotic events in America. For the 16th time, according to the Freedom Festival, the event will be produced and directed by the award-winning production team from the Baruch / Gayton Entertainment Group.
