1942 – 2022

Salt Lake City, Utah—Louse Scott McMillan, 79, passed away June 29, 2022. Louise was born August 26, 1942 in American Fork, Utah, the daughter of George Comb Scott and Ida Myrl Crookston. Her father was the mayor of American Fork from 1954-1957. Raised in American Fork, she attended American Fork High School. On October 22, 1963, she married Charles Voutaz. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education in 1964 from Brigham Young University. With her husband, she moved to Berlin Germany where Charles was stationed with the United States Army. They returned in 1965 to Utah where Louise was a teacher at Hillcrest Junior High in Salt Lake City. She then moved to Edwards Air Force Base with Charles and there, her son, Kurt was born. Charles and Louise later divorced.

On August 13, 1971, she married Russell Arvon Harrison. They moved to Vernal, Utah in 1972. In 1975, she was a teacher at Vernal Junior High School and with Arvon, they owned the South Vernal Market. Arvon and Louise later divorced. On July 21, 1980, she married David James (Currie) McMillian and they moved to Grantsville, Utah and then to Beverly Hills, Florida. They returned to Utah and by 1995, she was working for the Salt Lake County Sherriff’s office. She later retired from the Utah State Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing. She did not have any children with Arvon or James.

Louise enjoyed her hobby as a blacksmith where she created various knives and other objects entering them in the Utah State Fair. She also enjoyed finding arrowheads while living in Vernal and collecting various pins including some from the 2002 Winter Olympics held in Utah.

She was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and lived in the Salt Lake Avenues at the time of her death. She is survived by her son, Kurt (Catherine) Voutaz, two

granddaughters, Emily (Steven) Tuckett and Lisa (Hayden) Barker, and six great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother, George Jesse Scott in 2018, her husband, James in 2010, a grandson, Chandler Voutaz in 2017, and 2 great granddaughters.

The family would also like to thank the staff at Salt Lake Regional Medical Center for their care of Louise in her final days.

A viewing will be held Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at the City View Mortuary, 1001 E 11th Ave, Salt Lake City, Utah at 11:00 am. Funeral Services will follow at 12:00 pm. Interment at the Salt Lake

City Cemetery.
