LouJean Shaw Stanger Obituary (1931-2021) – Ogden, UT

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother LouJean Shaw Stanger returned home and was reunited with her family on December 15, 2021.
I was born to my parents Wilford and Lucille Bingham Shaw on December 9, 1931 and had the privilege of living on Elberta Drive in North Ogden in a four-bedroom house my father built next to my grandfather’s house and farm, William Elijah Shaw North Ogden.
In the first ten years of my life we had wonderful experiences with agriculture, livestock, arable farming, beekeeping and cows grazing. My sister LaVern (Calvin Cottrell, deceased) was also born and lived here. Then my father helped grandfather build another house next to the church in 1941, and my father also built on Fruitland Drive and picked up our house and moved it to part of the basement he built and added, my brothers Jerald (Tracie) (first wife Phyllis Hadley, deceased) and Marvin (Jan) were born there.
In 1950 I graduated from Weber High School, which is still on Washington Blvd. was located between 11th and 12th Streets in Ogden, Utah.
In 1951 I married my sweetheart from Weber High School, Robert Dean Minard, and started working at Continental Bakery in Ogden, Utah. My three children Bruce (Beverly Linford & Kayleen Campbell both died), Craig and Ann (Steven L.) Brunetti were born. I also switched jobs and worked at the Naval Supply Depot in Clearfield, Utah.
I didn’t work while I had my family. In 1961, Bob and I divorced and I returned to the Defense Depot Ogden to support my family. I worked at DDO until the summer of 1989.
In 1962 I married Charles Raymond Roberts in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple. Ray also adopted my three children, which took a few years, and then we were all sealed in Logan Temple.
Ray has three children from his first marriage, David (JoAnn Barth Roberts, deceased), Hubert and Leah Rae Roberts Rawson (both deceased) and Mark Steven and Kay Roberts (both deceased). Some of them chose to be sealed to Ray and me in the temple. From these families we have some special grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
When Ray and I got married in November 1962, my Shaw grandparents had just passed away in recent years, and my father asked if we wanted to move into Grandpa Shaw’s house until we decided where we wanted to live.
We eventually bought Grandpa Shaw’s house, started opening up the attic and this room. In 1979, when Ray retired from Hill Air Force Base, he built a three-story extension on the east side of the house. A family room in the basement, a living room on the ground floor and in my attic an additional room east of our bedroom with a terrace that opens to the north and has a beautiful view of Ben Lomond Peak.
Ray loved Scouting and was the Master Scout in our LDS congregation for over 10 years. The cancer took him in September 1980.
I had worked with Irvin Owen Stanger at Defense Depot Ogden for many years. His wife Elaine died of cancer in 1978 and after Ray died we started dating.
Eventually Chub, as he was called, and I became engaged and married in August 1982. Chub had six children from his first marriage. We had a wonderful marriage from 1982 until his death in 1998. Chub had a very special family too, and I enjoyed loving, knowing, and working with them. They are: William & Patricia Sevy, Scott & Margene Stanger, Randy & LeAnn Stanger, Marlin & Liz (first wife Wendy deceased) Kerbs, Mark Stanger and Teresa & Tom (deceased) Edwards.
All three marriages, I’m not sure if they are about kids, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, but I loved them all.
The funeral will be held on Monday, December 20, 2021 at 11:00 a.m., North Ogden 1st Ward, 626 East 2600 North, North Ogden, Utah, with a pre-worship viewing from 9:40 a.m. – 10:40 a.m. Viewing on Sunday, 5-7pm, Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden, Utah. Burial, Ogden City Cemetery.
