Lue Burritt
October 14, 1926 – June 15, 2022
On June 15, Lue Burritt passed away peacefully at her home in Thornton, Colorado. She was born in Iowa, the third of six children, growing up in the pearl city of Muscatine. After graduating from high school, she met her future husband Ken, and they were married in 1949. He passed away in 2008.
Lue worked at their veterinary practice, which began in Vernal, Utah where their daughter Gwendolyn was born, after about nine months, they moved to Butte, Montana. They raised their three children, Gwendolyn, Donald, and David in Butte.
In 1986, they retired and split their time between their Butte home, Yuma, Arizona, and many, many miles on the road in their RV travel. Family was very important to Lue but so was her faith, community service and friendships. Lue served as president of the Floral Park Community Club, and was active in the Eastern star, Soroptimist club, and many other organizations in Butte.
She moved to Colorado to be closer to her two sons and their wives in 2009, where she organized many activities at the residences where she lived. She especially loved blackjack, and she really liked to win! She loved social events and card games. Dressing up for the holidays throughout the year and decorating her home were very important to her.
Lue lived and loved life. Nothing brought more joy to her than being around her family and friends. She was surrounded by love.
Lue so enjoyed the care packages she received in the mail as well as the phone calls from her nieces and nephews in Iowa. You might take her out of Iowa but you could never get the Iowa out of Lue.
Lue is survived by her daughter, Gwendolyn; two grandsons: Douglas and Stuart; her son, Donald and wife, Lanie; and her son, David and wife, Nancy.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ken; her mother and father and her siblings: Ruth, Walt, Edna, Elaine, and Butch.
Lue’s family would like to thank everyone who touched their mom during her life and for all you did to bring a smile to her face and joy to her heart.
Lue’s ashes will be interned next to her husband in Eckert, Colorado at a future date.
The family also intends to take some of her ashes to her beloved Muscatine. The family would like to thank her morning and night care givers, Andrea, JoAnna, Mary, and Shari, as well as the entire caregiving staff at Bonaventure Assisted Living. Please know that she loved all of you and your caring made her final days as peaceful as possible.
