Man, 26, accused of causing Philip Ogden’s death by dangerous driving

A 26-year-old man was accused of causing death by dangerous driving after a passenger in his car was killed in an accident.

Police were called to a crash at the intersection of Bayley Street and Bridge Street in Stalybridge just after 11 p.m. on Sunday, May 9.

Officers discovered that a Ford Focus had driven through a section of the street in the Bayley Street industrial estate before colliding with an Audi A3.

It is believed that three other passengers in the Ford Focus fled.

Despite all the efforts of the emergency services, a passenger in the Ford Focus, who has since been officially identified as 32-year-old Philip Ogden, was unfortunately pronounced dead at the scene.

David Chorlton, 26, who is not a permanent resident, has now been charged with death from dangerous driving, death from driving during disqualification, death from driving without a license or uninsured, driving a motor vehicle during disqualification Having caused a road or a public place without liability insurance and not stopping after a traffic accident.

Mr. Chorlton appeared in Tameside Magistrates Court on Friday, May 14, and was taken into custody. He is due to appear at Manchester Crown Court (Minshull Street) on Friday June 11th.

A 26-year-old man arrested on suspicion of death from dangerous driving was released on bail, and a 23-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender were released on bail Detection.

His family paid tribute to Philip, saying, “Philip was a loving son, a loyal brother and a caring uncle, and a proud and caring father to his four week old son and partner.

“He was the middle sibling and was very popular and loved by everyone who knew him. He was always there for anyone who needed him, a true definition of a friend.

“His relaxed and strong-minded character and sense of humor will be fondly remembered.

“This news ravaged our lives and as a family we are struggling to come to terms with the news that Philip will never walk through the door again. He won’t see his baby grow up.”

PC Darren White of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said, “This is a very tragic incident and our thoughts are very with Philip’s family and friends at this sad time.”
