Marion Sybrowsky Obituary (2021) – Sandy, UT

Marion was born on June 8, 1929 in Manti, Utah. She was the darling of her family and was the middle daughter between the brothers Glade and Karl. After moving to Provo, Marion attended Provo High School and graduated from BYU.

Marion married Bob Dean in 1952 and had four children, Rebecca, Alison (Chris Anderson), Adrienne (Ryan Heinz) and Robert, who died at the age of 6. After their divorce, Marion taught home economics, including first boy’s cooking classes, at Highland High School. She loved her students and her career and retired in 1993.

Eight years after their separation, she met Woody Sybrowsky and they married in 1971. They were happy and friendly together. Woody also had four children, Dennis (Carol), Roger (Lise), Kathleen, and Layne (Jody); Marion promoted a great alliance between families. She held Sunday lunches where grandchildren became members of the Clean Plate Club, celebrated birthdays, and became friends.

Woody died in 1994 and she continued to be an important part of her family’s life. She played bridge and was a founding member of her study club which started in 1958 and is still going strong. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and primarily taught Relief Society; Feeling free to deviate from the manual, she often referred to her lessons as “programs”.

Marion was an avid reader, made quilts and counted cross stitch projects, and loved going to the Pioneer Theater. She was a wonderful cook who expressed her limitless energy and love for others by creating and serving delicious food. She loved chocolate, cola and a good joke.

She lived in the same house in Holladay for 48 years; Two years ago she moved to Crescent Senior Living in Sandy, where she died on Monday, December 7, 2021.

The funeral will be held at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary Chapel, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road, Sandy, on Saturday, December 11th at 11:00 AM, with a pre-viewing tour at 9:30 AM. The burial follows in Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery.
