Matt Bushman signs with the Las Vegas Raiders

PROVO, Utah (ABC4 Sports) – After five BYU players were selected in this year’s NFL draft, seven more Cougars from the 2020 team reached agreements with NFL teams as vacant vacant agents early Saturday night after the draft.
On the offensive side of the ball, Matt Bushman signed a free agent deal with the Las Vegas Raiders, while offensive linemen Tristen Hoge and Chandon Herring signed with the New York Jets and Tennessee Titans, respectively. Defensively, linebacker Isaiah Kaufusi reached a deal with the Indianapolis Colts, defenseman Zac Dawe received a deal from the Atlanta Falcons, and defensemen Troy Warner and Zayne Anderson signed with the Los Angeles Rams and Kansas City Chiefs, respectively.
“Whether it was the guys who got drafted or the ones who were drafting contracts, I’m equally excited about the opportunities awaiting them in the NFL,” said BYU head coach Kalani Sitake. “We have talented soccer players and great people on our program, and I know they will all represent themselves and BYU well. It was an honor to coach her. “
The five BYU players drafted in the 2021 NFL Draft are the most since 2002. Under the heading of quarterback Zach Wilson, who is second overall with the New York Jets, the Cougars also had offensive lineman Brady Christensen , who was drafted in the third round earlier with the Carolina Panthers.Three BYU players advanced to the seventh round, with defenseman Khyiris Tonga of the Chicago Bears, cornerback Chris Wilcox of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and wide receiver Dax Milne of Washington Football team were taken over.
In the past, BYU has drafted 147 ex-Cougars and an additional 201 are given NFL opportunities as undelivered free agents. In addition to the seven 2020 team members who signed as freelance agents on Saturday immediately after drafting, BYU 2019 recipient Micah Simon previously signed a three-year contract with the Carolina Panthers after his BYU’s Pro-Day training session in March .
