“Together Again”

Merlin Cole, age 89, of No. Ogden passed away April 12, 2022. He was born April 30, 1932, in Ogden, UT. He was the youngest child of Charles Albert and Barbara Maude Davis Cole. Merlin was raised in Ogden on Shupe Drive. He graduated from Ogden High School. He then enlisted in the US Navy serving for 2 years. After returning home from the Navy, he met JoAnne Boyack and they were married June 11, 1955, in Paris, ID. They made their home in No. Ogden and welcomed 3 daughters into their family.

Merlin worked for Hill AFB in the sheet metal hangar and was a supervisor when he retired at age 54. He then opened a sharpening business, “Merlin’s Sharpening Shop”. Merlin was known for his sense of humor. He loved camping, fires, riding horses, playing horseshoes, cars, and prospecting. He was a member of Utah Prospecting and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Merlin is survived by his daughters, Annette Smith, Julie Cole, and Sherry (Michael T.) Jones, 8 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and his sister, Barbara Phillips.

Merlin is preceded in death by his wife, JoAnne, his parents, his brother, Leslie Albert Cole, and a son-in-law, Robert Smith.

A funeral service will be held at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd, Ogden, UT, on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at 11:00 am with a viewing prior from 9:45-10:45 am.

Interment will be at the Ben Lomond Cemetery.
