NAPLES, Utah, Oct. 31, 2021 (Gephardt Daily) – Naples police chief Drew Cox, who served the population of the approximately 2,700 city of Uintah, has died, according to the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office.

Cox’s death was also confirmed by the Uintah County Shipping Office. So far, neither the cause of death nor the date of death have been known.

Duchesne County Sheriff Travis Tucker posted a statement on Facebook on Sunday afternoon in honor of Cox.

“We are very sad to hear of the death of the police chief of the city of Naples, Drew Cox,” it says. “Chief Cox was a very accomplished and trustworthy officer who served valiantly as a member of the sheriff’s office in Duchesne County for many years.

“His expertise and his knowledge of training and handling K9 were known, highly valued and coveted. Chief Cox was instrumental in developing K9 programs for many agencies in our region. He was also a well-known and highly respected officer who selflessly shared his expertise as an instructor for the UBTech Post Academy.

“His death is a tremendous loss to local law enforcement and leaves a huge hole in our hearts. We extend our condolences to his wife, Stephanie, and his family. Chief Andrew Cox is an officer who will be missed forever and never be forgotten. “

Naples is located southeast of Vernal, a small town with about four times the population.
