North Ogden bans all fireworks amid extreme drought

Another city in Utah is banning all fireworks this summer – with one exception.

The city of North Ogden announced Tuesday evening that its city council had voted to approve the ban. They said the ban would be lifted Dec. 1, despite state law fireworks outside Nov. 2-5. July 22-25 July, New Years Eve and Chinese New Year prohibit.

The exception, according to the city, will be the Cherry Days fireworks show, which will be closely monitored by firefighters.

“If we all take personal responsibility and follow this ban, we will help to protect our beautiful country,” said the city’s announcement.

North Ogden joins Salt Lake City, Park City, Eagle Mountain, and others in enacting a fireworks ban.

Governor Spencer Cox says he has no power to enact a statewide ban, and state lawmakers said they have no plans to convene a special session to discuss such a ban.
