Obituary for M. Lenore (London) Cooney

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Lenore London Cooney. Mom was able to stay in her home and was fiercely independent to the end.

Lenore was born in Ogden, Utah to Hillman and Ethel Taylor London. She attended Ogden High and Weber State College. She met John L. Cooney Jr. on a blind date. They were later married in the Salt Lake Temple. They were a great team and worked extremely well together.

She was a hard worker. She worked for Paramount Ice Cream and IRS, where she worked for 20 years. She spent many years taking care of Dad’s books at Cooney’s Machine Shop.

She had many hobbies which included golf, bridge, needlepoint and crochet. She was an avid reader, excellent cook and gracious hostess.

Dad passed in 2011 and Mom truly missed him every day. She was also preceded in death by her parents, siblings George, Mary Alice, Dorothy, Pat and her favorite son-in-law Melvin Kendell.

Mom is survived by her children John III (Sandra) Cooney, Lorrie Kendell and Chris (Shauna) Cooney, 12 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, sister Cheryl (Jed) Hammon and brother Mike (Peggy) London.
