OGDEN, Utah, September 13, 2021 / PRNewswire / – AvantGuard, Inc. is pleased to announce its 8th yearbook 5k Charity race Saturday September 25thJune to benefit Ogden Family in need.
Every year, AvantGuards Ogden Team members select a family for whom they are financially burdened by medical expenses. This year the AG is organizing the event for the benefit Xander Clark, a 13 year old boy Ogden, Utah who was diagnosed with T-cell lymphoblastic lymphoma in May.
Xander is an active teen who loves riding bikes, drawing, playing Xbox, and hanging out with friends. In May 2021, he was hospitalized for over a month for intensive chemotherapy and other treatments. He is home now but is still trying to regain muscle mass from being bedridden. He will likely receive chemotherapy for the next three years.
The support from the race will help his mother pay for needed health care and raise community support for Xander, his younger sister, and his mother. AvantGuard President, Justin Bailey said, “Our goal is to provide as much support to the family as possible by collecting community support and donating the money we collect from race registrations and sponsorship to the family.”
Xander’s mother describes the past few months as overwhelming new territory for her. They sincerely thanked them for the love and support they received from the community, and now they believe they can handle almost anything that comes in their way.
the Ogden 5k Race and 1 mile walk will take place Saturday, September 25, 2021, starting behind the AvantGuard building – 4699 Harrison Blvd, Ogden, Utah, 84403. There will also be a children’s race around the building and other fun activities for families. Check-in time is from 8:15 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. and the race starts at 9:00 in the morning
