Ogden Museum After School Art Club building ideas through art

Spark your child’s imagination, creativity and impetus to build in our art club at the Ogden Museum After School! This session is dedicated to viewing and creating artwork inspired by three-dimensional sculptural forms from the Built: Sculptural Art exhibition from the permanent collection and two-dimensional works from Preservative Force: Recent Acquisitions to the Collection. Students will use a range of materials made from Sculpey clay, natural organic materials, and even strange objects from around the house to work together to construct four stellar sculptural works of art. During each weekly class, museum educator Mikhayla Harrell will be live on Zoom to guide the children through in-depth art observation, critical thinking, art-making processes, and mindfulness practices. Students create an amazing portfolio of artwork that they can proudly share at home and in an online exhibition that will be presented at the end of the session. Before the start of the session, each student receives a kind of box with all the materials required for the session. If you are in the greater New Orleans area, the Art Box containing supplies will be delivered to the address provided on registration by the club’s start date. Shipping outside of the city is available for an additional fee. After your registration you will receive two emails: a virtual ticket and an email with a Zoom meeting link. If you do not receive the email, please check your Junk folder. Ask? Email to [email protected].
