Ogden Police: “Speed ​​Race” reportedly caused an accident in which 2 teenagers were hospitalized, 1 in critical condition

OGDEN, Utah, Aug. 7, 2021 (Gephardt Daily) – Ogden police confirmed Saturday that they believe teenagers in two cars that crashed on West 24th Street Friday night sent a driver and his passenger to the hospital, at that time races drove the accident occurred.

“It is believed to be a speed competition,” said Lt. John Cox, Ogden City Police Department, opposite Gephardt Daily.

The crash occurred around 9:32 p.m. near 800 West 24th St., Lt. Cameron Stiver of Ogden Police Department told Gephardt Daily shortly after the accident. A Volkswagen that was driven by a 17-year-old man collided with a Dodge Charger, Stiver told Gephardt Daily.

The Charger’s driver suffered no serious injuries, but the Volkswagen driver suffered a possible concussion and his 16-year-old passenger was critically injured and should have an operation Friday night, Stiver said.

Cox said there was no medical update available on Saturday.

The accident is still being investigated.
