Ogden Raptors flat, Boise Hawks dominate in 11-3 win to open weekend streak | Ogden raptors

OGDEN – After the Ogden Raptors won an exciting win on Friday night to secure a game against league leaders Missoula, they switched gears by welcoming the bottom-placed South Division team to the Boise Hawks at Lindquist Field.

But Boise looked great on Saturday night. Starting pitcher Mitch Lines gave up four hits in seven innings, the Raptors made five mistakes in the first six innings, and the Hawks cruised to an 11-3 win.

Jakob Goldfarb started with a solo home run in the lower part of the first, his eighth thing in the Pioneer League, to get Ogden (19-6) on the board with a 1-1. Josh Broughton single to follow but was later doubled down on a line drive.

The Raptors received no further hit until the seventh inning and in the second two hitters who reached via Walk were suspended on the base paths. The lines faced one over the minimum through six innings.

Meanwhile, Boise (8-17) slowly extended his lead, with Ogden pitchers Anthony Donatella and Chris Campbell unable to slow a flurry of hits made worse by Raptors’ mistakes.

After mistakes gave Boise a 2-1 lead, Vladimir Galindo struck a solo shot on right field to create a 3-1 lead after three. In the sixth, Antoine Mistico hit a two-run double and later scored a single in a five-run inning to lead 9-1. Roby Enriquez defended Hidekel Gonzalez in seventh with a 10: 1 lead.

With an out in the bottom of seventh, first baseman David Maberry Ogden’s drought ended with a double to right field, despite being helped when Mistico lost the ball in the night sky. Raul Shah eventually referred him to 10-2.

Maberry worked on the ninth field in an RBI single and scored Miguel Tejada Jr. for the final run of the game.

Maberry’s 2-for-4 night brings his league-leading batting average to 0.549.

Overall, Boise defeated Ogden 16-6 in a convincing win. Ogden’s lead is reduced to nine games as Grand Junction won at Billings on Saturday.

The two teams will play again on Sunday at 4 p.m. and on Monday at 7 p.m.
