OGDEN, Utah, March 8, 2021 (Gephardt Daily) – An Ogden woman was arrested after allegedly escaping the scene of the accident.

A likely statement from Weber County’s 2nd District Court said 31-year-old Amber Marie Roberts was charged with:

  • Attack of a prisoner, a third degree crime
  • Not staying in an accident with injury, a class A offense.
  • DUI from alcohol with BAC at or above 0.05, a Class A.
  • Interfering with the arrest officer, a class B offense.
  • Drunk Restricted Driver, a Class B offense.
  • Drive on the wrong side of the road, a violation

On Sunday, the arrest officer responded to a reported traffic accident.

“When I arrived, I was informed that the other affected vehicle, a red Mazda, had fled north from the scene on Wall Avenue,” the statement said. “When I was there, I found that the black SUV that was hit had rolled four times in the middle of Wall Avenue before it settled down.”

All those involved had minor injuries and were examined by doctors.

“During my investigation, I was able to locate the suspicious vehicle’s front license plate in the middle of the road,” the statement said. “By running the record, I was able to find a suspect and the suspect’s address. The officers replied and found that the suspect vehicle was currently not at home. Later officials located the vehicle and I contacted the driver of the vehicle, Amber Roberts. “

Roberts refused to get out of the vehicle and answer questions, the statement said. The official confirmed that this was allegedly the suspicious vehicle on the rear panel and the damage to the front of the vehicle, which was compatible with the accident.

“After she took Amber from the driver’s seat of the vehicle, she began to offer resistance when the officers handcuffed her,” the statement said. “At that point, I could clearly smell the distinct smell of alcohol in Bernstein’s person. After handcuffing Amber and advising her to be arrested, officers tried to put her on the back of a patrol car. Amber struggled further and withdrew her foot and kicked my chest aggressively. ”

Alcohol was reportedly in Roberts’ vehicle and her thermos in the driver’s seat “smelled strongly of alcoholic beverages,” the statement said. Roberts’ speech was hazy and she appeared to be drunk, the statement added. Field sobriety tests were not conducted as Roberts fought with officers and refused to cooperate with the investigation.

Roberts was taken to Weber County Jail, where she was later ordered to be conditionally released.
